A handwritten note greeted me at the front door. My boyfriend isn’t much for leaving love letters, so I was both shocked and intrigued when I read the titillating instructions: “On the table you will find a blindfold to confound the senses; a pair of furry cuffs to assure resistance would be futile, and a flogging whip to make sure the futility was permanent. Put on the cuffs and blindfold and deliver the whip to me in the bedroom. Follow the scent of jasmine.” Quivering with excitement, I did as I was directed.
